VALTOS

Valtos are Skye natives Daniel Docherty and Martyn MacDonald, and they have taken the Trad and Electronic music worlds by storm. Playing their first shows in December 2021, they haven’t stopped since, playing festivals and sold-out shows across the country.

Fittingly described by Folk Radio UK as “like nothing you have heard before”, the duo is influenced by trail blazers across the electronic and folk music scenes, including Martyn Bennet, Peatbog Faeries, Odesza, Madeon and Bicep.

Their debut self-titled album features Donnie Munro (Runrig), Lana Pheutan, Eilidh Cormack (Sian), Gary Innes (Mànran), Euan McLaughlin (An Dannsa Dub) and Allan MacDonald (Niteworks). The album, which achieved more than 100,000 streams in its first few weeks of release, followed several incredible remixes including tracks from Peatbog Faeries, Project Smok, Niteworks, and Mec Lir.

The band find inspiration in both the traditional and electronic music and the breathtaking beauty of their home and this inspiration not only feeds into their recordings, but also their incredibly energetic live performances where they are joined onstage with a full live band incorporating vocalist, actor and writer Lana Pheutan, Eilidh Cormack of Sian, Project Smok’s Ali Levack and one of Scotland’s top fiddlers Euan McLaughlin.
